Customizing Your Body Form for Better Fit

Make your dress form look like YOU - for better custom fit.

Do you have a dress form or body form that you can use to fit your garments?

If you do - lucky you!

It's so helpful to use a form for quick fitting.  But does your form really reflect YOUR size and shape?  Be honest - is your belly as flat as the body form's?  Mine certainly isn't!

Why does it matter, as long as the form's measurements are about the same as yours?

Well, there's a lot more to proper fit than body measurements.  Measurements, of course, are critical in getting good fit.  But the shape of your body is just as important, if not more so.

For example, my sister and I are approximately the same height and weight.  But she's a pear shape, and I'm an apple - meaning, she carries much of her weight in her hips, with a distinct difference between her waist and hip measurements.

I carry my weight in the middle - my belly and rear end.  I have no hips at all, and my waist is almost as big as my hip/seat measurement (because of the belly).

So my shape is very different than hers.  We carry our weight in different places, and that affects the fit of our clothing (especially pants!).

Don't worry, this can be fixed.  In the video below, I show you how to use shaped foam pieces to customize your form to match YOUR body.  Add curves where you need them!
